Because it's stylish, mother

It's April. 
もう４月。

Even though it's SPRING according to calendar, it's still very cold here. 
暦の上ではもう春なのに、こちらはまだ風が冷たいよ。

I'm so so jealous you guys girls are talking about pretty white dress and cool hemp pants..
可愛い白いドレスや、麻のパンツの話をしている2人がちょぴりうらやましい・・・。

So how I kick off NY spring with my shoes ? 
こうなったらこの寒いニューヨーク、足下だけでもちょっと春らしくするしかない！

I wear stylish short short boots to welcome cold spring so my feet can  feel little bit of spring but warm (important!!).
ということで、スタイリッシュなショートショートブーツで。すっぽり足が包み込まれるから暖かいもんね。

Yes, "stylish".
そう。「スタイリッシュ」

So I met this old yet very stylish lady on an elevator in my office today. (btw, inside of this elevator is brassy GOLD  and wakes me up every morning when I get in.) 
実は今日、オフィスのエレベーターに乗ってたら、初老のレディに出会ったの。（ちなみに、ビルのエレベーターの中は真鍮のような金色で、毎朝入る度に目が覚める。）

My office is on 42nd floor so it takes time to go up. 
オフィスは42階だから、あがるまでに結構時間があるのね。

The lady was looking at my shoes all the time and right before I get off, she said. 
その女性は、ずーっと私の足下を見ていて、私が降りる直前、こんなことを教えてくれたの。


When I was your age, I had exactly same shoes you are wearing now. My mother always told me "Why you wear shoes with shoelace ?  It's so complicated to tie them... " and I always told her "Because it's stylish, mother"

「私がちょうどあなたぐらいの年の時、私もまったく同じ靴を持っていたわ。でもね、母に良く言われたの。『なんでそんな靴ひものついた面倒な靴を履くの？』って。それでいつも言ったわ。「だって、お母さん、これってとってもスタイリッシュだもの。」

She smiled and shared nostalgically of her story.  
とっても懐かしそうにそんな話を教えてくれた。

One busy morning before work, I enjoyed a few minutes of spring. 
仕事に行く前慌ただしい朝、そんな春のひと時にとってもほっとしたよ。

This kind of little conversation makes me smile sometimes. no ? 
こういう、小さな会話ってたまにとっても嬉しくならない？
